The 2023 banner sales window has closed. Banner sales will reopen in May 2024.

Additional Details
Selection & Purchasing Process
  • Please take time to review the maps and pole locator tracker before inquiring about ideal pole locations. While LICP staff will try to help you find suitable locations, we have limited bandwidth to do so given the hundreds of locations available throughout the district.
  • If a banner is noted as on hold in the location tracker, that means another business is currently working internally to confirm if they will purchase the a banner at that location. We allow businesses two days to confirm. You can preemptively let our team know if you are interested in a location on hold so we can notify you if it is released. Please refrain from inquiring about locations noted in green as they have been purchased.
  • Generally you should be able to purchase a free banner indicated. However, we like to “play nice”; we do not encourage purchasing locations in front of a competitor’s store, building, etc. We may move the banner if this occurs.
  • Generally banners are assigned on a first come, first served basis, but we reserve the right to assign banners during the sale window in instances such as reserving the banners for a business in front of their building, for those considering bulk purchases (more than five) and for the purposes of LICP or the LIC BID.
Timeline, Production & Installation
  • We estimate that banners will be installed in July; it takes about two months from the point of purchase for banners to be installed. Banners sponsor logos much be sent to the DOT for clearance, which can take up to 30 days. We do this en masse once the sales window has closed. Banners are usually installed in the neighborhood in batches of 20 or more at once. This is one of the reasons why it is important to make the sales deadline.
  • Once the logos are approved, our team will lay them out on the banner creative and email you to review. We will move ahead with the proposed design if you do not email us back with concerns by the deadline noted.
Banner Management & Lifespan
  • Banners remain in the district for approximately one year unless otherwise noted. Sometimes they remain in the district longer than this, but can be removed at any time after one year.
  • At times, the Department of Transportation (DOT), which governs the NYC banner program, reclaims a pole for its own purposes or deems the pole unusable. Reasons for this can include the need to install police cameras or traffic equipment, etc. Poles can also become blocked by scaffolding. We are not informed when this happens, and the DOT/Intersection will move the banner to a nearby location. Refunds are not issued in these instances.
  • While our team monitors the condition of banners, please report down or damaged banners you come across to LICP. We will report these to Intersection/the DOT for repair and/or reinstallation. This is usually addressed within a few days.
Renewals
  • When we are ready to launch the next campaign (likely in 2024), we will reach out to existing banner sponsors to see if they would like to renew their locations. This is done as a courtesy and is not contractually binding.
  • In rare instances, we may need to reacquire or redistribute a banner location. In other instances, the banner location may become unavailable as per feedback from the DOT.
