Dia De Los Muertos

Please join us for a traditional Dia de los Muertos celebration. The Mexican Day of the Dead is a joyous and sacred time to welcome the souls of the dead. The deceased have divine permission to visit loved ones on earth and to share the celebration and pleasures of the living (even if only for a short while). In this aspect, the event is a triumph over death and therefore becomes a celebration of life. For the closer we are to the truth of our own death & mortality, the more alive we become. We will have a traditional Ofrenda (Altar) with small group guided meditations to heal relationships with those we have lost, traditional Day of the Dead bread, and other celebratory offerings. We invite you to bring an object, picture, or artifact that reminds you of something beloved that is no longer present to be placed on the Ofrenda. This can relate to a person, pet, idea, or anything lost that you would like to connect with for one night of celebration. Please wear or bring clothing suitable for inside and outside with festive attire or Day of the Dead costumes highly encouraged. Kindly RSVP by October 25 to accommodate our preparations. Energy Exchange: $10 In contrast to Halloween which is typically related to terror, Dia de los Muertos is distinctively different. It demonstrates a strong sense of love and respect for one’s ancestors; celebrates the continuance of life, family relationships, and community solidarity; and allows people to talk about (or even find humor in!) death.
