Form + Flow is pleased to present the exhibition The impossibility of never (February 27 - May 27,
2020), featuring the work of emerging 2D mixed media artist Alison Underwood.
The exhibition takes its title from a painting in the show, setting the tone for a metaphysical
experience with the work. When life presents seemingly insurmountable challenges, the phrase,
“The impossibility of never” is a reminder that there are always exceptions to the rule; that never
itself does not exist. This notion makes room for the unintended, as Underwood does in her
work.
The impossibility of never is a collaboration between Landing Contemporary Art and Form +
Flow, founded by Kristie Landing and Shelly Yang, respectively, who met while studying in the
MA Contemporary Art program at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London. Both organizations strive to
represent and support talented contemporary emerging artists. In the context of Form + Flow,
the exhibition sets a dreamy mise-en-scène for the practice of yoga, sound bathing, and
performance art.
