Opening for Back to the Table & Claytopian New Yor
'Back to the Table' Curated by Nancy Bruno and Puneeta Mittal In our multimedia fast food society, meals are often eaten on the run, on the couch, in front of a computer or television. Considering the current state of the dinner table this exhibition welcomes us to reclaim this important ritual with our friends and family while reminding us all that dinner tables are not only a place to collect mail and are meant to be utilized as a place for human connection. Tables tops are a space where families and friends congregate around, the future of a country or a cause is feverishly discussed and decided, dreams are fulfilled and at times promises broken. 'Claytopian New York' Curated by Matt Nolan New York City has been defined as “an experiment in world peace”. The diversity of its residents closely interacting in the density of urban living inspires a deeper understanding, appreciation and sense of greater community amongst all. NYC attracts, accepts and celebrates otherness. Claytopian New York invites ceramicists to apply whose work express the beauty, diversity and wonder of life in an idealized metropolis.
