First Irish Festival: Appropriate

Appropriate is an official selection of the 2020 Origin 1st Irish Theatre Festival Appropriate is a darkly comic tale of Sorcha; queen bee of her small West of Ireland town and proud fiancé of ex-county hurling hero Marty. She LOVES weddings and has been dreaming of her big day since forever and ever…However she has just fled her own reception. Has she gone mad? Or is this the first moment of clarity she has had in years? Perched on the edge of her ‘perfectly planned’ life, Sorcha is pure ragin’ at the dawning reality that she has never really listened to herself. Can she ever go back? The 12th annual Origin 1st Irish, produced by Origin Theatre Company, runs from January 7 to February 3, hosting some 15 events with artists from Belfast, Dublin, Galway, Wexford, Limerick, Queens and Manhattan. A month-long juried festival that presents acclaimed plays from the island of Ireland, as well as, new plays developed in New York, Origin 1st Irish is the first and only theatre festival in the world exclusively dedicated to showcasing the work of Irish playwrights.
