Anxiety Workshop

Exposure to the current news cycle and social media has had an impact on many who have experienced trauma or stressful events. As a result a need to learn how to cope with this exposure is emerging. The aim of this workshop is to develop a basic understanding of how trauma and/or heightened anxiety impacts our mind and body. Traumatic experiences can range in type or severity but stem from real or imagined perceptions of being in danger, and also include vicarious trauma, trauma that has happened to others or has been witnessed but not directly experienced. In this workshop, you can expect to learn about: Different ways in which trauma can impact our system (body) and how to respond when being triggered. How to be supportive of others who are going through a traumatic/anxiety- provoking experience. Evidence-based skills that will help you calm your nervous system when feeling anxious or “activated”. Alternative holistic techniques (i.e.- herbs/ tinctures, nutrition advice etc.) to support your body when coping with and healing from anxiety and/or trauma. If you’re looking for a personal therapist to dive in-depth with, this workshop will also provide helpful tips on how to search for and find the right professional for you based on your needs for healing. Jennifer Varley is a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). She maintains a private practice in Long Island City counseling adults who struggle with anxiety, trauma and co-dependency . Jennifer has completed speciality trainings in Harm Reduction Psychotherapy and Attachment-Focused EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) an evidence based treatment to assist with processing trauma, resolving phobias and treatment of anxiety disorders. She is a NYC Medical Reserve Corp volunteer and is passionate about energy psychology, ancestral trauma, quantum healing, nutrition, holistic health and social justice. Feel free to follow her on her IG @astoriastherapist to learn and stay connected to trends in holistic health and healing. Upcoming Dates: Thursday, November 29th, 7:30pm
