Nichelle Nichols, two Star Trek: Voyager stars, Flash Gordon, and both TV’s SHAZAM! heroes all turn up in the same superhero comedy—and it’s coming to Long Island City for the tour’s final stop!
“Surge of Power: Where There’s Smoke” is a fun, campy PG-13, 69-minute LGBTQ+ superhero comedy that won 38 festival awards and is on a seven-city theatrical tour. It plays Stuart Cinema & Cafe (37-18 Northern Blvd, Long Island City) December 4–6—the tour’s only New York stop and its final dates.
When an evil syndicate launches a plot against the city, superhero Surge forms an unlikely alliance with guest hero The Smoke (former pro wrestler Eric Moran) to save the day—all while dealing with a vengeance-driven rogue agent. It’s a big-hearted superhero adventure about turning pain into purpose, earning a second chance, and finding the family who will catch you when you fall.
