In honor of Day of Remembrance, admission to The Noguchi Museum is free on Saturday, February 21. At 3 pm, an intimate conversation hosted in partnership with The Serica Initiative will begin in the Education Room (Level C). Moderated by Kyoko Miyabe, the event brings together Mariko Aratani, Eri F. Yasuhara, and Nancy Matsumoto to discuss “By the Shore of Lake Michigan,” an award-winning English translation of a 1960 collection of Japanese tanka poetry written by Tomiko and Ryokuyō Matsumoto, a first generation (Issei) couple forcibly incarcerated at the Heart Mountain prison camp during World War II and later resettled in Chicago. Advanced registration required, with limited capacity. RSVP
