She has witnessed the devastating effects of climate change and deforestation firsthand and staunchly advocates for environmental protection. Laura advocates for women’s rights and gender equality in Indigenous communities\, cementing her legacy as a truly empowering leader within her community and beyond. \n  \nAll the collected funds will be sent directly to the families of the Yawanawa community in Acre\, Brazil. \n  \nLaura Yawanawa leads the Yawanawa Sociocultural Association/ASCY in Brazil alongside her husband\, Chief Tashka Yawanawa\, representing 15 communities. As a proponent of change\, Laura has been instrumental in evolving the traditionally patriarchal culture of theYawanawa to be more open and inclusive of women. \n  \nToday\, the Yawanawa look after 450\,000 acres of land in the Amazon rainforest. The Pre-Kids program provides a space for the littles to develop proprioception (awareness of their body in space)\, vestibular growth (balance and regulation)\, and of course confidence as they try new things! \nWe provide a safe and supportive environment as well as controlled risk to see your little soar! I mean where else can you swing from a rope\, climb all over boxes and run around free? \nClass is time appropriate at 45 minutes with water breaks\, brain breaks and free play mixed in.  Our goal is to make movement fun!  We integrate and practice basic foundational movements like jumping\, throwing\, running and more! \nOur Pre-Kids program is currently offered at GreenPoint Athletics just over the Pulaski Bridge!
