DESCRIPTION:Snapology’s Real World Robotics focuses on the real-life applications of robotics. In this program\, your engineer will explore the basics of robotics while building some amazing & helpful devices with their classmates! They will explore how robots help humans live in the modern world and explore other worlds! While working with a partner to complete various challenges\, your student will be taught how to effectively utilize sensors\, how different mechanical components work in their robots\, and how programming is a challenging but rewarding skill that they can master with just a little practice. We will support them in the development of their coding and building skills and inspire them with creative building challenges. \n : With each new model\, students will be given a program to operate their robotic build. They will learn how to read the program code and then fix an error to make the code useable. By fixing errors in a broken program code\, students will learn how to debug and modify their programs quickly. Whether making their build respond to various sensors\, adding loops and fun sounds\, or modifying variables\, children will learn valuable programming skills through the Scratch-based coding platform. \n : In each activity\, students will be asked to identify the key mechanical components used in each robotic model. They will complete this before they ever build the model so they better understand how the pieces work together in the final design. They will understand the importance and use of motors\, sensors\, gears\, axles\, their robot Hub and so much more. \n : An important component of this program is following verbal and written instructions. Throughout each lesson\, your student will be required to listen\, pick up on routines and follow instructions in order to complete the model and interact with their builds. In addition\, proceeds from the event go to LaGuardia CARES\, which provides a variety of supports for our students.

DESCRIPTION:Humans have accomplished amazing things in our pursuit to understand the universe\, and this program aims to make your learner a part of the story! Snapology’s A Universe of Stories Space Robotics program allows children to explore different aspects of space science and deep space exploration through building robotic models that mimic the concepts that they are investigating. They will discuss the movement of astronomical objects\, the developments in space exploration\, and the past\, present\, and future of space travel.\nWHAT STUDENTS WILL LEARN \n• Basic Astronomy\nThis workshop takes a tour of all the planets in our solar system\, examines the concept and importance of constellations\, and closely investigates the other astronomical objects that fill our solar system. Students will discuss these topics with their classmates and a trained Snapologist in order to use those complex concepts to build concrete examples that show their knowledge while providing plenty of space for creativity. You will be amazed at the knowledge your child gains through our hands-on\, student-focused activities! \n• Presentation Skills\nMany school-age students struggle when it comes to their presentation skills in the classroom. Snapology will help your child feel more comfortable presenting in front of a class by having the child explain their unique creations to their peers in an inviting\, low-stakes way. Presenting their creations will help their confidence in front of a group of people and will translate into their everyday self-assurance in the classroom. \n• Teamwork/Partner Skills\nSmall groups and peer partners are key components of Snapology’s classroom approach. We emphasize positive teamwork skills in our programs and diligently work to develop healthy\, respectful collaborations between students. Through group planning\, sharing of materials\, and fun partner experiences\, students become more cognizant of how to interact with their peers in a respectful and productive way.
