DESCRIPTION:Event Highlights \nSaturday\, November 2nd \n1:00 PM – 3:00 PM*  \nFollow @hunterspointsouth on Instagram for updates! \nLocation: Malt Drive Park (Entrance on 2nd St and 56th Ave) \n\n*Check-In Time for Contestants: All registered contestants must arrive by 12:00 PM. The latest check-in time is 12:30 PM to be considered for the competition.  \nCheck-In Time for Other Participants: If you're only interested in walking the parade or spectating (not participating in the competition)\, please arrive between 12:30 and 12:45 PM. \n\nParade & Contest Details:  \nWhile the official parade kicks off at 1:00 PM\, our judging panel will select a limited number of contestants to move on to the final round between 12:00 to 1:15 PM. During the final round\, the audience will cheer for their favorite costumes. The top 3 winners will be crowned after the parade\, based on applause from the crowd!  \nAll Pets Welcome:  \nWe invite pets of all kinds to join in on the fun!* (Please see section – “A quick note for our furry friends.”)  \nRegistration:  \nSpots for the costume contest are limited\, so be sure to register through the link provided in this post. The holiday blends indigenous beliefs with Spanish influences\, creating a colorful and lively atmosphere that embraces the idea that death is not an end but a continuation of life.  \nFamilies create altars (ofrendas) adorned with photos\, favorite foods\, and mementos to welcome the spirits of the departed back home. There will also be a face-painting session inspired by historical characters from Día de Muertos. All are welcome to join the festive event in the Museum’s courtyard\, which will include a catrina and catrin contest hosted by artist historian Rosa Ruíz and Catrinamía. The celebration culminates in a 6:30 p.m. screening of Alejandro Amenabar’s The Others (2001; ticket purchase necessary\, discount offered)\, featuring Nicole Kidman in one of the most elegant and devastating ghost stories of the 21st century.
