SUMMARY:Time Ninja: A Sci-fi Musical Comedy
DESCRIPTION:A play about a young man’s attempts to love himself by preventing genocide in the past. A surreal\, satirical odyssey that pits the rawness of human experience against the rise of technological enhancement. When lonely teenager Shlomo is recruited by The Buddha to exorcise historical demons like King Leopold and Pol Pot\, his journey escalates from absurd heroism to philosophical conflict. \nThrough musical numbers\, audience interaction\, and a rather lascivious showdown\, and moments of tender grief\, Time Ninja critiques a world that’s traded vulnerability for upgrades.

DESCRIPTION:Part of Culture Lab LIC’s New Works Festival 2025 collection \nThursday\, December 4\, 7:30pm\nFriday\, December 5\, 7:30pm\nSaturday\, December 6\, 3pm & 7:30pm\nSunday\, December 7\, 3pm & 7:30pm \nIt takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds for the sun’s light to reach our Earth. 8min20sec is a collection of musical reckonings\, each beginning when the sun is announced to have gone out. We witness different reactions to the world-ending news\, but each story begs the question: how can we hold on when we have to let go? \nDirected by award-winner Jennie Hughes and co-produced by Forager Theatre Company.

SUMMARY:Theatre East presents: A Christmas Carol staged reading
DESCRIPTION:Ghosts\, truth\, cheer\, audience participation\, and a sledgehammer blow. \nWhen Dickens penned A Christmas Carol\, he called it “a sledgehammer blow on behalf of the poor man’s child.” He wrote it as a charge\, sparked by testimonies of girls sewing sixteen hours a day\, and by children as young as 8 hauling coal carts through lightless tunnels. Dickens gave those lives a voice\, and that voice echoed forward and helped change the world. \nOn Wednesday\, December 10 at Court Square Theater\, Theatre East invites you to carry that voice forward through a community-driven reading of Romulus Linney’s thunderous adaptation.\nWe’ll gather at 6:30pm for mingling\, punch\, and eats\, and begin the reading at 7:00pm\, celebrating simple storytelling\, shared humanity\, and the communal spark at the heart of Dickens’ message. \nJoin us. Let’s bring the story to life together.\nFREE

SUMMARY:Take Root Presents: Aishwarya Madhav | DanceAction
DESCRIPTION:Take Root Presents: Aishwarya Madhav | DanceAction \nDecember 12th & 13th at 8:00 PM \nGreen Space\n37-24 24th Street Suite 211\nLong Island City\, NY 11101\n$22 in advance\, $25 at the door \nAishwarya Madhav | Who Am I?\nWho Am I? is an evocative dance production that journeys through the universal experience of a woman’s life; sharing vignettes of various stages she goes through – infancy\, childhood\, marriage\, motherhood\, and old age. The production culminates in a powerful encounter: a woman’s conversation with her reflection\, an immutable witness untouched by life’s ebb and flow. In a transformation\, the dancer embodies this reflection\, bringing to life a sacred stanza from the ancient poem\, Nirvana Shatakam. \nDanceAction | Pathways and Architecture \nPathways and Architecture is a multimedia dance performance\, featuring video projections\, original set design\, and audience participation that explores ‘oppositional’ movement styles in response to a dichotomy in our identity: our bodies’ asymmetrical nature coexists with our human desire to develop symmetrical systems. Our architectural design is unique and full of asymmetries\, but we build machines\, computers\, and systems to create a symmetrical world. While these structures should serve our human needs and improve our lives\, it often feels like we are trying to accommodate who we are to fit in these spaces. I aim to discover a possible balance between our natural selves and constructed reality\, and find an answer to the everlasting question: how do we fit a square peg into a round hole?

SUMMARY:Artist & Curator Conversation | Emma McCormick Goodhart & Jordan Carter
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Emma McCormick Goodhart in conversation with curator Jordan Carter to close out “sottobosco (climate remix)\,” which unfolds as an olfactive and haptic experience in darkness and a durational installation that will fill SculptureCenter’s lower level with ozonic mists from Thu-Sun\, Dec 11 to 14. They will address and extrapolate from the project’s central themes\, such as “remote sensing” across millennia and tuning to the ecologies of sensation of prehuman lifeworlds. \nTo attend\, please RSVP here:\nhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScJhlE2vZgHsRt_SeuUYGTxZAzKGaOvLpwu-8B36Cu4vtIm-g/viewform\n____ \nLaunching on this occasion is CAVE 0\, Emma McCormick Goodhart’s first artist scent edition\, which translates her research into archaeoacoustics\, artificial caves\, and “synthetic material fictions.” The scent emerges out of “ecopoetics of touch and timescale\,” originally created from macerations of moonmilks\, cave dirts\, cicada nymph skins\, and other rare earth samples to render contact with prehuman lifeworlds. The installation will also feature a multichannel sonic intervention during the launch’s evening\, tied to “earamphore” (2022)\, a vibrotactile sound piece created with Jessika Kenney that originally was commissioned for Nottingham Contemporary’s “Hollow Earth” exhibition in 2022. \nThe limited edition CAVE 0 perfume\, launched by McCormick Goodhart’s studio\, ecdysis\, and hand-numbered on mineral-hue silver paper\, will be available for purchase from the SculptureCenter store. \n____ \nEmma McCormick Goodhart [EMG] is an artist\, writer\, researcher\, and dramaturge who experiments across media\, timescales\, and modes of practice. Interested in fathoming deep-time developments of sensing\, especially in sound and scent\, alongside technosensory futures\, she stages soft architectures\, social ecologies\, and climate fictions that attempt to retune the spaces that host them. Presentations include Bangkok Kunsthalle\, Bergen Assembly\, Haus der Kulturen der Welt\, Július Koller Society\, Kunsthalle Zürich\, Le Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris\, Nottingham Contemporary\, Pioneer Works\, Storefront for Art & Architecture\, The Glucksman\, and the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale. Her writings have been published by e-flux\, Flash Art\, Frieze\, Kunsthaus Zürich (in German Braille)\, Open Humanities Press\, Spector Books\, Sternberg Press\, and Vestoj\, and shared with Adidas’ FUTURE Lab and MIT’s School of Humanities. An Affiliate Artist at the Rose Choreographic School in London\, she is among the commissioned artists for Counterpublic 2026. \nJordan Carter joined Dia Art Foundation as curator and co-head of the curatorial department in 2021. At Dia\, he has curated exhibitions including Renée Green: The Equator Has Moved (2025)\, Amy Sillman: Alternate Side (Permutations #1–32) (2025)\, Keith Sonnier (2024)\, Lucas Samaras (2024)\, Mary Heilmann: Starry Night (2024)\, stanley brouwn (2023)\, Tony Cokes (2023)\, and Jo Baer (2022)\, among others. He also curated the exhibition Cameron Rowland: Properties (2024) following the 2023 announcement of Dia’s stewardship of the artist’s Depreciation (2018) as one of its twelve sites and locations. His forthcoming projects include presentations of the work of Agnes Martin and Howardena Pindell and major new commissions by D Harding\, Fujiko Nakaya\, and Haegue Yang. He oversees Dia’s permanent collection and works closely on the preservation of and programming around its permanent installations\, including Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty (1970) and Nancy Holt’s Sun Tunnels (1973-76)\, both located in Utah. He is part of the curatorial ensemble for the 2026 edition of the Counterpublic art triennial in St. Louis.
