With the recent rezoning\, recognizing the neighborhood’s artistic roots has become a vital part of its story. As LIC continues to expand\, we cannot forget the artists who established its creative foundation and enabled this thriving community. Artists such as Alanna Heiss (MoMA PS1)\, Pat DiLillo (5Points)\, Mark di Suvero (Socrates Sculpture Park)\, and Isamu Noguchi (Noguchi Museum) are widely cited as artistic leaders who paved the way for the artists and institutions that followed. \nRooted: The Artists of Long Island City celebrates not only these revered leaders but also the many other artists who contributed to the community’s creative fabric. DESCRIPTION:This one-man show presents music and humor to tell the story of one of the most divisive and influential people in Irish history. \nMichael Collins was a leader in Ireland’s fight for independence from England\, and in the wake of the country gaining its independence\, Ireland was then plunged into its own civil war. Collins was a central figure in the civil war and was killed in a roadside ambush in 1922.\nThis show explores that murder and the mystery and mystique around one of Ireland’s most recognizable men of the 20th Century.
