Neighborhood Banner Program
Showcase your business with high-visibility street banners throughout Long Island City. This program allows LICP & LIC BID member businesses to promote their brand while contributing to the vibrancy of the neighborhood.
Banner sponsorship sales reopening soon in Winter 2026!
Selection & Purchasing Process
- Our 2026 Banner Program map will allow you to check the availability and location of promotional street poles in the neighborhood. If you have specific locations in mind, please review the map prior to inquiry. Our team is also happy to help identify suitable locations if you need assistance. On the map, green indicates available street poles, yellow indicates that a pole is on hold for a sponsor, and red indicates a pole that cannot be utilized for the campaign this year.
- Competitor considerations: In general, banners may be purchased at any available location. However, we aim to “play nice” and discourage placing banners directly in front of a competitor’s storefront or building.
- Priority & reservations: Banners are typically assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. LICP does reserve the right to temporarily hold or prioritize certain locations during the sales window. This may include:
- Annual Sponsors of LICP, and Banner Sponsors purchasing five (5) or more banners
- Businesses with poles directly in front of their building or storefront
- Ground-floor retail businesses along Vernon Boulevard, where pole availability is limited and demand is high
- Specific needs of LICP or the LIC BID
- Minimum installation quantity: Banners are installed in batches of 20 or more. If you miss the sales window, you will need to wait for the next campaign unless combined interest from sponsors results in an order of 20+ new banners. In those cases, banners may remain up for less than the full campaign duration, as all banners are refreshed at the same time.
Timeline, Production & Installation
- Installation timing: We estimate banner installation to be completed in May, contingent on scheduling and the absence of delays. Installation is managed by Intersection, a partner of the NYC Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Artwork & Customization: We’re excited to launch a refreshed banner design for this year, seen here! Upon placing your order, please share your up-to-date High-Resolution logo with LICP so a proof of your banner can be made. For returning banner sponsors, our team will confirm that the logo on file from the last campaign is still preferred for this round of banners.
Banner Management & Lifespan
- Campaign duration: Banners will remain in the district for approximately one calendar year, unless otherwise specified. While banners sometimes remain installed beyond that time, they may be removed at any point after the stated campaign period.
- DOT-related removals or obstructions: The NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) may reclaim a pole or deem it unusable for several reasons, including (but not limited to) the installation of police cameras, traffic equipment, or scaffolding related to construction. LICP and Intersection are not automatically notified when these actions occur.
- If you notice that your banner has been removed, blocked, or otherwise affected, please notify Isabelle Castillo-Anderson, Manager of Partnership Development ([email protected]). Refunds are not issued in these instances.
- If reinstallation is requested, the banner sponsor is responsible for any associated costs. LICP will only charge for the reprint cost, currently $200 per banner.
- Special events: The DOT may temporarily remove or replace banners for special events (e.g., the New York City Marathon). When notified, Intersection will make a reasonable effort to relocate affected banners to a nearby location and reinstall them at their original location following the event.
- Damage or maintenance: While LICP monitors banner conditions when possible, sponsors are encouraged to report any downed or damaged banners to Isabelle Castillo-Anderson, Manager of Partnership Development ([email protected]). Once reported, issues are typically addressed within a few days by Intersection or the DOT.
- Fly-offs: In rare instances, banners may detach and become unidentifiable due to severe weather conditions or wind tunnel effects.
- LICP, Intersection, and the DOT are not financially responsible for banner fly-offs.
- Fly-off banners are not automatically replaced or reinstalled.
- If replacement or reinstallation is requested, the sponsor is responsible for the reprint cost.
Renewals
When planning the next banner campaign, LICP will reach out to existing banner sponsors first to gauge interest in renewal. This outreach is a courtesy only and does not establish a contractual right of first refusal.
LICP reserves the right, at its discretion, to:
- Reacquire, reassign, or redistribute banner locations as operational needs evolve.
- Remove, relocate, or modify banner locations in response to DOT guidance, feedback, or regulatory requirements.
